The New Logic

Argumentum ad dystopiam: something is true because it will make bad things much worse.

Argumentum ad botulism: something is true because it makes you dangerously ill.

Argumentum ad mominem: something is true because your mother said so.

Argumentum ad Discordian: something is true because you are a pope. Read the rest of this entry »

Did You Miss Us?

I should have guessed that Eris would take my absence as a chance to play a little havoc. Hail Her! It seems that our hosting service applied a patch the day after I became incommunicado. I’m all for patches. (Arrrr, matey!) Unfortunately, it caused a little database connection problem. As you can see, it’s all fixed now. Please accept our apologies for so cruelly shunning all of you.

On a personal note, DRT HQ remains disassembled and packed into boxes for another day or three. New postings will be coming very soon, though.

DRT HQ on the Run

Moving, the modern way

After years of enjoying our fortified bunker in Newport, Oregon, we here at DRT headquarters have determined that it is time to abandon it for greener pastures. The posting frequency will, unfortunately, fall a bit until the process is complete. Never underestimate the logistical difficulties involved in trying to get the required permits to transport a hyperdimensional fusion vortex generator on public highways. It seems that we differ on the definition of “minimal public risk.” Those damned bureaucrats have to ruin everything.

Until we can fire the generator up again and restore full posting velocity (created with a fresh view and mind), you can still amuse yourself with Rev. Beau Daschious’ wonderful periodic contributions. I’ll chip in here and there as well. You may also, in spiritual solidarity, amuse yourself with this moving sculpture.

Eris Wants Your Bodily Fluids

She's a bloodsucker, all right
First she’s been keeping me too busy to post much lately, and now I learn that She’s going to collect my taxes.

An Animated Epiphany

From the archives of Reverend Fenderson’s weekly epiphany series, I grabbed the story for this little animation. The music is a melancholy waltz, “Old Man Waltz”, from The Black Light album by Calexico. It may be that it is too melancholy for the story. So I made another with music by Daniel Lanois, “Carla” from the Belladona album.

The Hapless Dilettante News

I bet not many people know about the romance between Andie MacDowell and James Joyce. But it’s true. The love, the loss, the passion — it’s all there. You can see the flash video at Hapless Dilettante News.

“The squirrels made it seem less lonely”

Sure they did. That’s their art. They prey on people who feel lost. Once they gain your confidence, that’s it. Terry Gilliam’s movie will explain it.
